With the COVID-19 pandemic no longer considered a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), many learnings have been gathered around digital Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response (PPR). The experience has demonstrated the value of open-source digital tools for PPR, but it has also raised questions including its interoperability and sustainability.
The number of countries using SORMAS has increased exponentially in the past years with even more countries requesting support with the deployment of the system. To address these needs, the SORMAS Foundation was established in 2022 with the main goals of ensuring the quality standards and sustainability of SORMAS as a Global Good, as well as supporting countries with its implementation.
With the objectives of 1) providing updates on the current status of the SORMAS Foundation and SORMAS developments; 2) strengthening the SORMAS community and fostering exchange between members; and 3) collectively discussing the SORMAS development roadmap, the first Annual SORMAS Conference will take place in Berlin, Germany , (Betahaus Berlin, Rudi-Dutschke-Straße 23) on the 18 th and 19 th of October 2023 .
The conference will include keynote speakers and panellists from the areas of PPR and open source, country SORMAS presentations and unconference sessions for the participants to discuss topics that are relevant to them and the SORMAS community.
We expect to have an enriching discussion and participants from different countries and organisations. It is for this reason that we will be delighted to have representatives from your organisation at the first SORMAS Annual Conference.
Further information and preliminary agenda for the conference can be found here: conference.sorm.as
As you know, the SORMAS Foundation is a non-profit organisation funded mainly through grants and donations. The conference organization will be primarily funded through the registration fees. However, this will not be enough for some things such as providing travel grants for participants from countries that cannot afford it. Therefore, if you wish to contribute to the conference as a financial supporter, please, get in touch with us at info@sormas.org
We look forward to welcoming you!
